The Final
At the IMS not only the overall winner of the WorldCup was stablished, but also the IMS Slackline world champion.
The crowd in the newly transformed boulder hall was fired up right from the beginning! Encouraged by the two hosts and supported by the Stuttgart sound system "Suzzlic Stereo", the contestants showcased from the beginning why they are amongst the best in the world. In the mode "one on one" the first battle was fought between Andy Lewis and Nick ten Hoopen - Andy prevailed after the set time of four minutes. In teh second battle Luis Meier managed to beat Azkan from Japan. Bernd Hassmann had a hard time against Janek from Poland, but managed to come through in the end. MoMo then managed to beat the overall second in the WorldCup ranking and one of the favorites Felix Hachfeld from Lindau at Lake Constance.
With each battle the performance of the slackliners increased and the mood in the sold out hall rose by the minute. After one hour of breathtaking tricks it became a reality: The 15 year old Maurice "MoMo" Wiese was up against Andy Lewis, the winner of the Munich and Friedrichshafen WorldCup competitions.
Who will have the strongest nerves in this situation? Who will land the deciding tricks at the right moment? Everyone in the hall was on their feet, cheering for the finalists. A head to head battle... After Andy landed his "Backflip" perfectly, the winner seemed to be decided. But after MoMo first responded with a "Backflip", followed by a "Sick Nasty" and his "Three-sixty to Double Kneedrop" the decision who was going to win was set in the minds of the three judges.
The with EUR 1000 set first place of the IMS Slackline WorldCup went to th 15 year old Maurice Wiese from Frankfurt. Andy Lewis was beaten but still managed to take the with EUR 500 set second place. Third place - set with EUR 250 - went to Bernd Hassmann!
Because of his first places at the competitions in Munich and Friedrichshafen and his second place at the IMS, Andy Lewis managed to secure the overall WorldCup competition. For that he won a new "El Moto" electro bycicle!
