Karakorum Aid Appeal - a new home for flood victims
IMS and Montagna.tv have teamed up to help relieve the emergency situation in the Karakorum region, where last August extreme floods damaged or destroyed millions of lives and homes. With winter on the doorstep, countless people were left without a shelter and living under desperate conditions: many of them, especially in Punjab and Sindh, still do not have access to clean water, and analyses have shown that diseases are on the rise.
In order to help understand life in those mountain regions and raise awareness about the need to help people who live in places which are extremely difficult to reach in emergencies, the IMS has organised a conference with the most important names of the mountaineering world and international relief organisations.
On 7 November 2010 at 12 pm, together with Montagna.tv, the IMS will contribute to help those millions of people who have been severely affected by the forces of nature. All funds raised will go to the Aga Kahn Foundation's rural support programme which aims to rebuild homes in the flooded regions. Donations are welcome and can be made throughout the course of the whole festival in our special Karakorum Aid boxes and at the info point.
